Since the first high school robotics team was started in 2009, the excitement has spread throughout the OJR district. Multiple teams have formed at the FTC and FLL levels. Our goal is to provide students at all grade levels and in all schools an opportunity to join a robotics team. Robotics competitions are designed to allow all students to learn about mechanics, electronics, programming, business, teamwork, and leadership. These activities allow students to put classroom knowledge in math and physics to work in real-world problems. We are proud to be hosting our own robotics competition this fall

	The varsity Sport for the Mind, FRC combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. FIRST FRC Team 3123 is for students in grades 9-12 and currently has about 35 team members. The competition season runs from January to April. Students are challenged to build a complete 120-pound robot in just 6 weeks!

	FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Team 4185 is a smaller group of high school students that compete from September to December. The all-student built robot must be smaller than an 18" cube and competes in a 12' x 12' arena. FTC is designed to be a warm-up for the FRC season and is a more affordable option that provides the same type of hands-on learning experience.

	OJR district students in grades 4-8 are introduced to real-world engineering challenges by building LEGO-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. FLL teams, guided by their imaginations and adult coaches, discover exciting career possibilities and, through the process, learn to make positive contributions to society.
