District TV Studio:
The Education Foundation and School District Administration are working with the district townships as well as Comcast and Verizon to bring “Wildcat TV” to the entire community. The Owen J. Roberts School District is comprised of seven townships and covers approximately 110 square miles. As the district’s community continues to evolve from a largely farming community to that of a more rural suburban one, there is still no town center through which to bring our community together. In November 2007, the Foundation presented the district with a $25,000 check for the purchase of much needed TV studio equipment. The Foundation and District Administrators are working together toward the goal of creating a ‘virtual’ town center with the broadcasting of “Wildcat TV” via local educational cable channels. And, on June 23, 2008, East Vincent Township residents will be the first to receive “Wildcat TV” broadcasting in their homes!
“Wildcat TV” will provide district residents with original student programming; broadcasts of district events; and community service announcements and programs. Not only will “Wildcat TV” provide valuable communication and technical skills to students that will allow them to be competitive with their peers in college and university communications programs, but will also provide an avenue to showcase the enormous talent of our youth!

“The video production courses at Owen J.
Roberts not only inspired, but also directed me towards my
current college major. …Video production is a tremendously
successful and popular course at Owen J. Roberts, and I believe
that expanding the program with a TV studio will undoubtedly
help students, like myself, discover their true passion in
life.”

“…video production III helped me adapt
to working cooperatively with others under pressured situations
to create a final product that was not solely my own. …after
participating in this course, my own personal filming experiences
became much more organized and easier, since I realized how
important teamwork is to create a strong, final product. From
my own experiences I noticed an edge of knowledge over my fellow
classmates here at Temple University film program. “

“The field of film is diverse and very
competitive and rewards those who have experience and knowledge
of different equipment and how they work. I always thought
what it would be like…and wondered what the Paw Report would
look like and sound like if it was not only shot in the studio,
but broadcasted live. I believe that the capabilities and experience
gained in the use of an actual studio designed for the film
process is something that is essential to the development of
a student who is truly interested in the study of film…”

“Video Production was one of the most influential
classes that I had in High school. I had the class for three
years and I learned to develop speaking skills and being comfortable
in front of the camera.”
