The chilly November wind did not deter a sell-out crowd from packing the French Creek Golf Club for the 3rd Annual Chili Cook-Off. Guests sampled a dozen chilies from local restaurants and caterers and had an opportunity to practice their line dancing skills under the direction of Paul Wilburn from Cut-A-Rug.The following winners were announced: 1st place – “The Big O’s Chili” - Oscar Gayer Catering 2nd place – “Pub Chili” – Coventry Pub 3rd place – “Shredded Beef Brisket & Smoked Chili’s” – Positively Pasta Best Dressed Table – Oscar Gayer Catering People’s Choice – Positively Pasta and Bause Landry Catering A live auction of “Senor Burro”, the Cook-Off Mascot that was made by OJR HS Art Students for the 1st Annual Chili Cook-Off was a highlight of the evening. Dr. Joel DiBartolomeo outbid all others and is the proud new owner of the donkey. We expect that “Senor Burro” will re-appear at various times in various places throughout the district. The Owen J. Roberts Education Foundation Board of Directors expresses sincere appreciation to all who helped make this event a success. Funds raised will be used for the teacher mini-grant program that supports the district goal of a world class education for every student. |
